Oscars: The 3 Best Dressed

While everyone looked absolutely beautiful at the Oscars, there were definitely stars that shined brighter than others. Here are my top 3 picks:

1. Alexandra Edenborough (Gary Oldman's wife)
She is so beautiful and chic. Her dress had a simple shape, but so much detail. Her updo is gorgeous. And it's too cute that Gary Oldman's pocket square has polka dots on it!

2. Jessica Chastain
Her dress was so detailed and beautiful, and her hair complimented it perfectly! I adore her.

3. Natalie Portman
I absolutely love polka dots of any kind, and red swiss polka dots on a floor length gown is about as good as it gets! She nailed it.

How to Translate Oscar Fashion into Your Everyday Wardrobe

So, as we all know, the Oscars was last night. There were great films, hilarious presenters, and of course, gorgeous people. There were some fashion hits, and alas, there were some misses. And so many new trends were introduced last night! Some of my favorite trends that I noticed were nude and ballet pink shades, polka dots, and belt details. Here's how to incorporate these trends into your everyday wardrobe!

1. Nude/Ballet Pink
If you're going to wear this color all over, you have to find a shade that contrasts enough with your skin so it doesn't look like you're naked. But if you wear this color right, it can be totally chic!

The Inspiration: Cameron Diaz
The Everyday Version:

Wear it with more casual and contrasting pieces like chunky cardigans and dark tights and it's cute for all seasons!

2. Polka Dots
Natalie Portman was absolutely stunning in a red dress with swiss polka dots! Polka dots are so retro and cute and super easy to incorporate for everyday.

The Inspiration: Natalie Portman
The Everyday Version:
Pair a cute polka dot skirt with a simple shirt and your everyday shoes and you'll be so chic!

3. Belt Details
Last night, I saw belt details on so many people, even Best Actress nominee Michelle Williams! While it may not be so easy to wear them on full length gowns, they can be totally cute with high-waisted skirts or dresses.

The Inspiration: Michelle Williams
Check out the adorable crystal bow on her waist!

The Everyday Version:
Chambray skirts are always chic, and with a cute bow on the waist, you'll look just like Michelle Williams!

4 Best Places to Find Fashion Inspiration

Sometimes, it's hard to get inspired. You feel bored with all of your clothes, and you need to find something that recharges your wardrobe. Here are my 4 favorite places to get inspired.

1. Pinterest
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard, and you can create as many boards as you want, in all categories. You pin images and videos onto it, and people can "repin" you (kind of like retweeting on Twitter) and "like" your pins. But I always think it's best to pin from other sources, because you bring something fresh to the Pinterest world.
That's the Pinterest logo. Here's the link to my Pinterest page. I'm a very active pinner. Check it out!

2. Rachel The Stylish Wanderer
This girl's blog is really active. She's from San Francisco, and she goes to my school. She is really knowledgeable about fashion, and her blog is really urban and cool. Her name is Rachel Dickinson.

3. The J. Crew Catalog/Website
J. Crew is to die for. It's so preppy and cute, and a good majority of my closet is J. Crew. It's a little on the expensive side, so I always shop for deals in their sale section! (and if you sign up for their mailing list, they tell you when all the major online sales are!)
Here's a link to the website:

And check out Crew Cuts, the kids brand. A lot of teenage girls can fit into the size 12 and 14! It's super cute.

4. Seventeen Style Council Blog
Every year, Seventeen magazine picks 17 girls to be on their "Style Council," and throughout the year, these girls blog about their own personal style, and are featured as models in the magazine. Their blogs are so cute and chock-full of inspiration!

5 Hairstyles You Can Do in Under 2 Minutes

As a high school student, it's pretty hard just rolling out of bed in the morning. It's even harder having time to meticulously style my hair every day. I have a few go-to hairstyles that I can easily do on a bad hair day, and they all take under a minute, no heat styling required!

1. Topknot
Topknots are so chic. They're easy, fast, and perfect for any season.
2. Preppy ponytail
A really bouncy ponytail is so retro and cute. The higher the better! Tie it with a bow for an extra girly touch.
3. French braid
If you're having one of those days when your hair looks absolutely awful, a french braid is the way to go. It ties it all back, and none of your frizz has to show.
4. Side braid
These are so shabby-chic! Make sure it's not too neat. Muss it around a little bit for texture.
5. Braid Ponytail
It's a lot easier than it looks!

Here's a step by step on how to do it:

All of these hairstyles are perfect for those days when you just can't bring yourself to use your flat iron. And I guarantee you you'll get compliments all day!

Dark purple, almost black.
4. Sally Hansen-Midnight in NY
Navy Blue is a must, and this particular shade was the winner of beauty awards from Marie Claire, SELF, and RedBook.
Bright pink is always cute. Just make sure that it's really neat, otherwise it could look homemade.
6. Essie-Show Me The Ring ($8)
A pearlescent gold. Super cute, and even when it chips, the sheer color still looks salon-perfect!
7. Essie-Chinchilly ($8)
Chic granite grey.

Bright, cobalt blue. Such a gorgeous bright.
